Smart Live Gaming Ceases UK Operations

According to information, released by representatives of the UKGC, Smart Live Gaming, managed by Smart TV Broadcasting Limited, is no longer available for UK players. It has surrendered the Gambling Software license as well as the Remote Operator license.

The volunteer surrender of the licenses puts an end to the investigation of the UK Gambling Commission. Smart Live Gaming also holds a license from the Maltese gambling authorities, which remains valid.

The announcement came a few days after the UK gambling authorities suspended the Remote Gambling license of Smart Live Gaming with the argument that the operator was believed to provide an unsuitable service for the UK customers. UKGC started an investigation of the parent company Smart TV Broadcasting. Right after the announcement about the temporary suspension, Smart Live Gaming was asked to settle the outstanding balances of the clients.

According to section 116 of the UK Gambling Act, Smart Live Gaming was defined as “unsuitable to carry on licensed activities” and required the operator to take actions towards refunding customers with outstanding balances. The latter requirement is still valid regardless of the surrendered licenses.

Now, Smart Live Gaming is about to cease its operations on the UK market and close all its brands on the territory of the country. UKGC officials reassured all affected parties that they will be provided with information about the full closure of Smart Live Gaming in a timely manner.

Smart Live Gaming was launched in 2007 with the aim of becoming a leading provider of televised gambling solutions and more precisely, roulette and live dealer games.

Smart TV offered online gambling services through the following websites: smartlivebingo.com, smartlivebaccarat.com, guruplay.com, smartlivepoker.com, smartlivecasino.com, smartliveblackjack.com, smartlivesports.com.

All these sites redirected to smartlivegaming.com where customers can see the icons of the UKGC and the Maltese gambling authorities displayed. According to the information on the site, the live dealer casino activities are managed by Smart Gaming Group Malta Ltd.

Right before the suspension of Smart Live Gaming, the UK gambling authorities called out Betowen.com because of the false claim that it holds a license, issued by the United Kingdom Gambling Commission.

Based on the latest announcements of the UKGC, Metro Play Limited, the operator in charge of Metroplay.com and 666Bet was also suspended because of revelations about a tax fraud and money laundering scheme.
