Camelot and ITV Report Great Success of “I Am Team GB” Nationwide Campaign

As reported by Casino Guardian in July, The National Lottery operator Camelot has released its “I Am Team GB” earlier this year. Now it became clear that the campaign, staged by The National Lottery in collaboration with the UK-based commercial TV network ITV, has encouraged almost one million people to join in sports after the great success of the Team GB.

The Director of Retail Operations at The National Lottery Sally Cowdry commented on the results and shared that the National Lottery had made a contribution of more than £80 million on an annual basis in order to support more than 1,300 athletes for their success not only at the Summer Olympics in Rio, but as a whole. Ms. Cowdry also shared that Camelot had the desire to create a nationwide event that would allow literally everyone to participate in it.

This result has been announced by the research firm YouGov as the largest sports participation that has ever happened on the territory of the UK. As it became clear, the commercial TV network ITV has switched off all of its channels in order to encourage the eventual viewers to take part in a total of 13 flagship events over the campaign.

According to the data released by the research firm, the sports clubs on the territory of the country hosted 2,600 free events, which were attended by around 970,000 people. The research firm YouGov also revealed that more than half of these people were actually not sports lovers, but attended the events regardless of the fact.

In addition, more than two thirds of the attendants shared that they were considering to start exercising after the event came to an end. Moreover, there were four million people apart from the participants who shared they could take part in exercise in the future.

The head of brad planning operations at ITV Clare Phillips also commented on the campaign results, saying that the team of the TV network was very happy with the fact that so many people used the bank holiday weekend to participate in the “I Am Team GB” initiative and exercise. Ms. Phillips also added that the company was also proud with the fact that it had helped for the excellent performance of the Team GB in the Summer Olympics in Rio this year.
