UKGC Grants Cherry iGaming with Operating License

The Swedish gaming company Cherry announced that its iGaming’s affiliate PlayCherry Ltd has received a gaming operating license from the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC). The operating license covers not only the casino operations of the subsidiary, but also sports betting ones and provides it with the chance to deliver its offerings to the UK gambling and sports betting market.

The Chief Executive Officer of Cherry iGaming Jonas Wåhlander commented on the company’s announcement, describing the license granted by the UKGC as one of the milestones of the company’s development. According to him, the gambling operator was able to meet the needs of its customers in every segment in the UK gaming, casino and sports betting market thanks to the great variety of services it offered.

Mr. Wåhlander also shared that the company’s team expected a warm welcome in the UK market due to its current reputation and policy plus the ComeOn’s experience, so everyone at the company was excited with the great potential of this market.

Cherry has been one of the fastest growing gaming companies in the global regulated market, with professional experience dating back to 1963. The Swedish operator has revealed that it is focused on a business strategy that is closely related to developing profitable and well-established businesses with quickly-growing operations in the casino and gaming industry.

Up to date, the company operates within four business areas of different kind – Game Development business through Yggdrasil Gaming, Online Gaming operations through Cherry iGaming division, Restaurant Casino business through its Cherry Spelglädje subsidiary and of course, Performance-based Marketing through Game Lounge. The Swiss gaming operator has set a number of goals, including generating strong organic growth and making some strategic acquisition deals.

The iGaming business of Cherry has already been licensed in Malta, Curacao and Schleswig-Holstein. Setting a foot in the UK gambling industry is expected to bring a lot of benefits for the operator, especially considering the fact that the company has made an outlook that the profits generated from locally deregulated markets will rise over the upcoming years.

A few days ago, the Swedish company revealed its results for the three and nine months ended on September 30th. The operator announced strong quarterly results, saying they were due to the rapid growth of its online gaming operations.
