GIG Appoints Thomas Bäckman as Head of B2C Division

gigThe Malta-based iGaming services provider Gaming Innovation Group (GIG) revealed that it has made some changes to its senior management team. The overhaul came as part of a new organisational restructure that is planned to have a major and widely applicable effect on the company’s operations. It is also initiated in order to assist the successful integration of the assets that have recently been acquired by the company and added to its online gaming and betting brands’ portfolio.

A new business-to-consumer unit of the company has been established in order to unite and unify some recently-acquired assets and the already existing brands of Gaming Innovation Group. In addition, the provider’s governance revealed that the changes in the operational structure of the company were necessary in order for GIG to stick to its objective of becoming the leading iGaming operator in the Nordic region.

The division is planned to consist of the Kaboo, Thrills.com, SuperLenny plus the Gaming Innovation Group’s own brands Betspin, Guts.com and Rizk.com. The Betit Group assets, which were taken over by the Malta-based iGaming services provider in June 2016, will also be included in the newly-created business-to-consumer division.

The company issued an open letter to its employees and corporate stakeholders, revealing that the former boss of Betit Thomas Bäckman has been appointed as head of the new business-to-consumer unit. In addition, Gaming Innovation Group shared that its Chief Executive Officer Robin Reed is to assume the position of Group Chief Executive, which basically means that both the business-to-business and the business-to-consumer arms of the company will be put under his lead and will be overseen by him.

Mr. Thomas Bäckman commented on his appointment as chief of the company’s business-to-consumer arms, saying he was really happy with the opportunity to run the organisation of the new division. He said he was convinced that over the upcoming years Gaming Innovation Group would be on the right track to its objective of becoming the leading online gaming operator in Scandinavia region.

The management additions come at a time when the company’s operation have been running smoothly, generating growth. At the beginning of November 2016, Gaming Innovation Group revealed its third-quarter results, announcing a massive growh in its operating revenues as well as a stable organic revenue growth. In addition, the revenues generated by both business-to-business and business-to-consumer arms marked an increase.

The company also provided its outlook for its annual financial results, saying it expects to surpass its forecast of 100% revenue growth for the fiscal year. The provider also said that its revenues are expected to exceed €120 million in 2017, and saw potential for significant revenue in its current IGC customers base.
