NOVOMATIC Publishes Highest Revenues in Company’s 36-Year History

Austria-based gaming company NOVOMATIC released its annual financial report today and announced it achieved the highest revenues ever since it was first established in 1980. The annual financial report, published on the website of the Österreichische Kontrollbank, indicated that the NOVOMATIC AG Group generated a total of €2,294.1 million in revenue for the fiscal year of 2016. The result corresponds to a 10% year-on-year increase for the gambling company.

The most substantial increase in revenue was achieved within the sector of gaming machines. According to the company’s financial report, revenues in the area of gaming machines increased by €126.7 million to climb to the record-breaking €1,028.9 million.

The yearly financial report also indicated that NOVOMATIC’s EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation) amounted to €588.5 million whereas the company earned €616.7 million in EBITDA for the previous fiscal year. In addition, the international operator of iGaming technologies reported that the number of employees working for NOVOMATIC AG Group climbed by 18.1% to reach a total of 23,849 people.

The combined revenue of NOVOMATIC and its two sister holding companies in Switzerland, ACE Casino Holdings and Gryphon Invest, amounted to €4,402 million in 2016. In comparison, the Group’s combined revenue for the previous fiscal year stood at €3,929. The companies in question employ about 29,000 people on the global scale. As many as 3,300 of the said employees are located in Austria.

The number of fully consolidated companies in 2016 served as yet another indicator of the company’s record-breaking financial growth during the last fiscal year. The company’s report indicated that the number of NOVOMATIC’s consolidated companies grew to reach a total of 217. In comparison, the number of consolidated companies stood at 188 in the previous fiscal year.

NOVOMATIC Chief Executive Officer, Harald Neumann, referred to the financial results the company achieved in 2016 as “excellent” and went on to say that NOVOMATIC adopted clear strategic paths which would ensure the further expansion of the Group and its acquired companies.

Neumann revealed that one of the aforementioned strategic paths is an agreement NOVOMATIC signed, which allows it to acquire approximately 53% of the shares of Ainsworth Game Technology Limited. The latter is a publicly traded Australian company, with headquarters in New South Wales.

Ainsworth Game Technology boasts a strong presence in a variety of markets across the world, including North and South America, Asia, and Australia. NOVOMATIC’s Chief Executive Officer is confident this strong presence would ensure the successful expansion of the Austria-based gaming company on the said markets.

The financial reports also indicated that NOVOMATIC’s focus during the last fiscal year remained on the further expansion of its business activities across the European continent. The company ensured its successful expansion on the important UK market by acquiring Talarius Limited. NOVOMATIC also reported a successful expansion of its position in other key European gaming markets, including Germany, Spain, and Italy through the acquisition of various smaller companies.

NOVOMATIC also acquired shares in Casinos Austria AG and the Österreichische Lotterien GmbH. In September 2016, the gaming solutions operator expanded its growth opportunities by issuing a benchmark bond with a volume of €500 million, which is a precedent for an Austrian company.

NOVOMATIC is among the leading operators of gaming technologies in the world. The company was established in 1980 by Professor Johann F. Graf and provides cutting-edge gaming equipment and gaming solutions to customers from 80 countries around the globe.
