British Columbia’s Gaming Regulator Grants NetEnt with Casino Content License

The leading premium gaming software solutions provider NetEnt announced that it managed to obtain a licence from the Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch (GPEB). GPEG, which is the gaming regulator of the British Columbia has given its approval to NetEnt Americas, making it official supplier of British Columbia Lottery Corporation, which up to date is the only licensed gaming and lottery operator in the Canadian province.

NetEnt Americas is the US-based subsidiary of the leading digital entertainment company NetEnt AB. The latter is currently one of largest and best-established gaming software solutions suppliers operating on the international iGaming market, providing its partners and customers with a high-quality gaming platform and various gaming options.

The Chief Executive Officer of NetEnt, who is also President of the software supplier, Per Eriksson, shared he was very happy with the newly-obtained licence, calling it “another important milestone” in the company’s strategy for further expansion in regulated markets.

Mr. Eriksson also highlighted the fact that NetEnt was the online casino supplier that had been present in most regulated markets as far as number of licences and certifications were concerned. According to him, the expansion of the company in Canada, and more specifically in the province of British Columbia, was a step of great importance for the supplier.

The province-owned Crown corporation British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) is known for having its revenues directed towards various social causes, health care and education activities, and programs for supporting communities. On the other hand, the gaming market of Canada is currently regulated in each province thanks to licensing systems which are available for each province separately.

The province of British Columbia is Canada’s third largest one in terms of population, with about 4.6 million people living there. Gambling and betting are currently very popular activities among Canadian citizens. However, the gambling legislation in the country has been considered a bit complicated, primarily due to the fact that each province features a separate licensing system.

NetEnt, on the other hand, has been following a strategy for international markets expansion by obtaining special licenses by the local regulatory authorities and by inking partnership agreements with some of the largest casino, gaming and betting operators on a global scale. In February 2017, the company saw its games go live in Mexico after reaching a partnership agreement with the local online casino network of Codere, after taking the first step towards expansion in Mexico with Codere at the beginning of December 2016.

Last year, the company’s gaming portfolio also went live in a number of other markets, including the ones of Portugal and Bulgaria.

New games releases have also been included in the supplier’s agenda, as the company has been seeking to offer its partners and customers the greatest variety of high-quality gaming solutions available. The company has been focused on bolstering its gaming portfolio by adding new games on a regular basis.
