WPT Organisers Unveil Seven More Main Tour Stops for Season XVI

The organisers of the World Poker Tour (WPT) announced the remaining schedule of the WSP Main Tour’s Season XVI, revealing seven more stops in 2017 in a number of symbolic poker venues, a well as five events that are to be broadcast on TV.

The Chief Executive Officer of the WPT Adam Pliska explained that the organisers of the World Poker Tour believed in long-lasting partnerships with some of the most attractive casino venues in the US. Mr. Pliska further shared that each of the venues that had hosted the tour’s event in 2016 had helped it become the most-attended season in the WPT history so far, so organisers were hoping to break records over the current season.

The current season of the WPT is set to continue with WPT Choctaw that is to be held at Oklahoma’s Choctaw Casino Resort. One of the main highlights of the WPT Choctaw stop is the fact that the $3,700 Main Event scheduled to run between August 4th and 8th is to be televised. This would also be the third time when the World Poker Tour is expected to set foot in Choctaw, with the previous two Main Events each attracting players fields of over 1,000 entries each. Also, the average guaranteed prize pool of the previous Main Events in Choctaw being estimated to approximately $4 million.

There will be two more televised events after the one in Choctaw – the WPT Legends of Poker and the WPT Borgata Poker Open, respectively.

The $4,000 buy-in Main Event of the WPT Legends of Poker is set to take place from August 26th to 31st at The Bicycle Hotel & Casino in California. The gambling facility is one of the traditional stops of the World Poker Tour and has hosted poker events of the series over all sixteen seasons to date.

WPT Borgata Poker Open over the tour’s season XVI, on the other hand, is to be held in Atlantic City, featuring a $3,500 buy-in Main Event that is to kick off on September 17th. The latter is also set to be broadcast on TV. The Main Event of WPT Borgata Poker Open has been considered as one of the most attractive events over the series, as it has been attracting over 1,100 entries regularly ever since hitting the 1,000-entry mark in 2009, when WPT Season VIII was held.

The current season of WPT Borgata Poker Open is to also feature the second instalment of the ClubWPT King of the Club series. The latter will see two televised tables of King of the Club winners.

Another stop is to make a grand return to the WPT schedule in September – the WPT Maryland Live!, with the latter set to see its $3,500 Main Event kick off on September 30th. Then, in October, the WPT is scheduled to head to bestbet Poker, Simulcast & Racing in Florida, to have one of the most attractive stops over the entire circuit – the WPT bestbet Bounty Scramble, which is to be held from October 5th to October 24th. The $5,000 buy-in Main Event is scheduled to kick off on October 20th.

After that, WPT Montreal will have its C$3,850 Main Event held at the Playground Poker Club from November 10th to 16th. Over the previous season of the circuit, WPT Montreal Main Event gathered a total players field of over 640 entries.

And last but not least, the WPT will have the last leg of Season XVI in Las Vegas, Nevada. The circuit is to return to the Bellagio Hotel & Casino that is to host the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic between November 25th and December 12th. The televised Main Event will cost $10,400 and is planned to kick off on December 7th.
