At the beginning of 2023, it is interesting to reflect on the political events of 2022 and how they have shaped life in the UK. The upheaval in Parliament and the changes made to party leadership have been turbulent. Political agendas aside, we are taking a look at the male members of Parliament to ask the important question – who is the most attractive?
Compared with issues such as inflation or the cost of living, politicians’ physical appearance may not seem as significant. Yet trust and confidence in those in power are often based on first impressions, however inaccurate they might be. Although looks can sometimes be deceiving, they do matter, so we at CasinoGuardian have decided to analyse the physical appearance of the most notable politicians in the UK right now. We have chosen to focus only on men since, for better or worse, gender-balance statistics show that the majority of MPs and members of the House of Lords are male. To compile this list of the best-looking male UK politicians, we compared attributes such as height, overall appearance, smile and intellect.
1. Johnny Mercer
The Conservative politician and former Army officer Johnny Mercer is the epitome of tall, dark and handsome. A regular exerciser, he works out frequently to stay in shape, pairing a strong physique with a six-foot-three frame.
He is relatively young compared with many other politicians, and this vibrancy, combined with his dynamic, positive outlook, is a charming facet of Johnny’s personality. With good looks, an Army career and a promising future in politics, he is the whole package.
2. Rishi Sunak
Rishi Sunak’s boyish good looks and charming smile make him popular with many and have earned him the nickname ‘Dishy Rishi’. With a clean-cut appearance and engaging smile, Rishi has a youthful and approachable demeanour. His slim build and athletic physique help him appear healthy and strong.
As a person of Indian descent, he has a warm, golden complexion that keeps his skin looking smooth and fresh. This warm skin tone, combined with thick, dark hair, is what makes Rishi so appealing.
3. Keir Starmer
Keir Starmer’s physical attributes make him stand out. At more than six feet tall he is taller than the average man and, being quite broad, has a powerful presence. Despite his solid build, he maintains a lean, athletic frame, which makes him look fit and healthy.

This intelligence is often on display in his speeches and public appearances and can be appealing to those who value intellect. 5. Ed Miliband
Ed Miliband’s nerdy, intellectual vibe is attractive to those who admire intelligence. Even though Ed is pleasant to look at, with large eyes and a full mouth, he shows little ego regarding his own appearance. The former Labour Party leader once joked that he ‘looked like Wallace’ from the Wallace and Gromit animated films, a comment inspired by the famous bacon-sandwich incident that spawned hundreds of online memes.
Ed is reasonably tall and keeps in good shape, which helps him look younger than his years. He is a politician who always photographs well, and his dark, slightly wavy hair gives him a casual, friendly and approachable look.

As an intelligent and passionate politician, he can be relaxed and casual when campaigning, but when he puts on a suit and tie Jeremy assumes a slightly debonair look reminiscent of James Bond – perhaps that explains why so many women have married him!

David Cameron exudes an air of confidence and success. The former British Prime Minister has a slightly boyish appearance and a cheeky chin dimple that is hard to resist. An Old Etonian, David is well-educated, and his pleasant speaking voice and accent draw many people to him.
Something that is not immediately obvious about David is that he is quite tall, standing at 6’1”. This height, paired with his boyish good looks, dark hair and smooth English accent, makes him very attractive.
8. Sadiq Khan
Sadiq Khan’s charming smile and charismatic personality have made him a hit with voters. He is very well-groomed, usually seen in a stylish suit, and has neat, short hair; it is this hair that makes him particularly eye-catching.
With a darker complexion, Sadiq’s greying hair creates a striking contrast to the rest of his face and sharply highlights his features. Wide eyes and a square jaw complete his look and, although Sadiq is relatively short, he is a pleasant-looking man.
9. Nigel Farage
Nigel’s strong opinions and rebellious spirit make him attractive, but his looks do not appeal to everyone. He has been compared to everything from a cartoon character to a scrambled egg and, with his expressive facial features, it is easy to see why.
Nigel may look like a bit of a character, but he is an accomplished political leader known for delivering impassioned speeches. When he is not on the political stage, Nigel makes many public appearances and is always ready with a smile. It is this wide, expressive smile that makes him appealing.
10. Michael Gove
Despite his somewhat nerdy appearance, Michael Gove’s intelligence and ambition shine through. With a round face and glasses, he has a pleasant, bookish look that may appeal to people who appreciate intellect in a partner. Michael is also fairly tall, standing at six feet.
Even with height on his side, Michael may not be considered ‘good-looking’ in the traditional sense, but his tall, lean physique and smart appearance will be attractive to some.
The list above may not be exhaustive, but it includes some of the most prominent male politicians in the UK in 2022. These men, physically appealing or not, have influenced the lives of millions and will likely continue to do so in the coming years. Whether we like them or not is a matter of personal preference, but the first impression they create is likely to endure. It is formed subconsciously within the first few seconds of seeing a new face.
