Methodology
Using data from Spotify, we analysed playlists that contained the phrases “valentine’s day”, “date night”, “romance”, “love”, “heartthrob”, “couple” & “Netflix and chill”. This resulted in a list of 6,583 playlists containing a total of 851,998 tracks. Each group was then given a top-100 score based on the number of times a song appeared in a playlist.
By combining all the top-100 lists, we produced the ultimate playlist, aggregating the scores from every song across the seven lists. The top artists were then ranked according to their total score and the number of different songs they had featured in the playlist.
