Manchester Tech Team of bet365 Expands to Meet Company’s Business Demands

The British online gambling giant bet365 is to expand the technology team at its Manchester base from 200 to 300 people. The company revealed that it is to make the new investment to grow its tech team by adding new positions for graduates from the University of Manchester and to infrastructure jobs.

After the expansion, the tech team is to occupy the fifth floor at the gambling operator’s base at Spring Gardens-located Zenith building.

Bet365’s boss of Systems Development in Manchester, Warren Hughes, explained that the city is considered a competitive marketplace, which allows developers to often move from one company to another. Mr. Hughes revealed that the expansion of the team is set to be in line with the latest demands of the business, which on the other hand is crucial to ensuring the longevity of the company as a leading entity in the local and global gambling sector.

This is not the first time when bet365 has expanded its Manchester team. Since the company set up in the city two years ago, it has employed almost 200 software developers and testers to help the project delivery support at its major tech hub situated in Stoke-on-Trent.

Now, the Manchester department is expected to generate further growth, as the leading gambling operator is planning to add more people to support some new projects. Once being established as an office to supporting the main software development team in Stoke-on-Trent, the Manchester office has now started to recruit new people at infrastructure positions.

Further Expansion Sought by bet365

Recently, bet365 denied rumours for possible Gibraltar operations’ relocation to Malta. According to rumours and media reports, the decision for Britain’s exit from the European Union (BREXIT) has pushed the leading online gambling operator to plans for the move.

About a couple of months ago, unnamed sources were cited by the Sunday Times of Malta, saying that bet365 would probably move approximately 1,000 of its employees in Gibraltar to Malta due to the more favourable legislation of the region plus the uncertainty surrounding Gibraltar’s statute after the upcoming exit of the UK from the European Union. Rumour has it that the company, which is currently one of the largest online gambling operators not only in the UK but also in a global scale, has already signed a promise of sale agreement under which it would acquire a part of a new property development there.

The company, however, denied such plans. Still, the company reiterated its intentions for further expansion. Bet365 has been one of the British gambling operators which have been willing to take advantage of the newly-opened sports betting market in the US.

In fact, the company has already entered into a partnership with the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City. Under the agreement, the two operators are to offer sports betting services, after the local gambling regulatory body has given the nod.
