KPMG Appointed to Oversee NOSES Development

The UK Remote Gaming Association announced it was going to work in collaboration with KPMG for a project regarding the National Online Self-Exclusion Scheme (NOSES for short). KPMG is a provider of tax, advisory and audit services. It has as many as 22 offices on the territory of the UK and 11,000 partners throughout the country.

KPMG staff is aware of the self-exclusion scheme, though. It provided invaluable support during NOSES’ implementation process. The main reason why KPMG assistance is needed is that the establishment of such kind of a system is associated with technical, legal and governance issues. If everything goes according to the initial plan, the new system, developed by KPMG and RGA will be fully-functional by the end of 2017.

Earlier this year, UKGC authorities announced that they consider it appropriate NOSES to be designed and implemented by the gambling sector itself.

In other words, the program provides each and every player with the opportunity to discontinue engaging in gambling-related activities, licensed by the United Kingdom Gambling Commission. In addition, players who seek help because of gambling addiction issues will be advised by a specialist.

Clive Hawkswood, a RGA Chief Executive, commented on the self-exclusion program and said that it was an important tool that would help problem gamblers overcome addiction issues. He went on to say that it was a great accomplishment to have a national scheme of that type envisaged by the UK gambling authorities.

The Programme Director of the UK Gambling Commission, Paul Hope, did not miss to thank the RGA for developing the system and added that the UKGC was going to work in collaboration with RGA towards achieving the shared objective of establishing a system that has a beneficial effect on the people who use it.

The Director of KPMG Gibraltar, Micky Swindale, shared that the KPMG members were pleased with the new partnership and embraced the opportunity of establishing a user-friendly system.

Back in February, the UK Gambling Commission notified all operators holding remote gambling licenses that a self-exclusion system was to be designed and it will be available throughout the country.

The main objective of the project was providing players with the chance to exclude themselves from participating in games, licensed by UKGC. At the same time, the website is also intended to provide other solutions aimed at helping people handle their gambling addiction issues.
