Ownership Change and Strategic Expansion
The long-standing Poker Palace Casino in North Las Vegas is preparing for significant changes as it transitions from the Coleman family’s ownership, which dates back to its 1974 opening, to Truckee Gaming LLC of Reno. Truckee Gaming will be taking on the property as its first investment in the Las Vegas market, adding to its existing portfolio of ten casinos across Nevada.
Truckee Gaming, which owns 10 casinos in Nevada, is buying Poker Palace on October 1, 2025 and will be renovating the North Las Vegas casino.

Renovation Plans and Corporate Vision
Truckee Gaming has outlined a detailed plan to revitalize Poker Palace. The plan includes updated slot machines, modernized gaming systems, and several facility upgrades. Planned improvements will expand the casino floor and redesign restrooms and office areas. In addition, the main entrance will be made more accessible, while carpets, ceilings, and décor will be refreshed.
An expanded kitchen will accommodate a new quick-service restaurant with seating for 32, with an emphasis on providing diners with quicker and more diverse meal options. The property will also feature a redesigned and enlarged bar area, additional seating, state-of-the-art slot machines, and upgraded technology throughout the casino.
Truckee Gaming’s Chief Operating Officer, Pete McHugh, stated, “We can put ourselves in a position to draw more clientele to it with just a better strategy and reinvestment.”
Regulatory Process and Community Reaction
The Nevada Gaming Control Board has already issued a limited license. However, final approval from the Nevada Gaming Commission will only come after renovations finish in mid-2026. The planned closure and upgrade of Poker Palace have prompted mixed feelings in the community, as the property has been a prominent feature in North Las Vegas for over five decades.
