Hiring Push for New Casino Venue

Live! Casino Virginia has established a recruitment center in Petersburg to support staffing for its anticipated temporary gaming site. The company aims to hire more than 500 employees for a variety of permanent roles, covering departments such as facilities, security, surveillance, slot technology, finance, cashiering, food and beverage, guest services, and environmental services. More than 100 positions are allocated specifically for table games dealers. The opening of the temporary venue is set for January 2026.

Penny Parayo, senior vice president and general manager of Live! Casino Virginia, stated: “Right now, I’m just looking for people with great attitudes, that have a hospitality personality, and we will teach the rest of the technical skills.”

Permanent Resort Plans and Facility Details

Following the temporary facility, The Cordish Companies plan to unveil the permanent Live! Casino & Hotel Resort in 2027. The development will be located on a 100-acre parcel off Interstate 95 in Petersburg. According to company details, the resort will boast 75,000 square feet of gaming space, housing 900 slot machines, 33 live table games, a bar, and a quick-service restaurant.

Norfolk Welcomes Interim Casino

Meanwhile, Boyd Gaming and the Pamunkey Tribe have recently inaugurated a temporary gaming center in Norfolk, ahead of their planned $750 million permanent casino, which is also targeting a 2027 opening. The venue, situated off Park Avenue, represents the inaugural gaming location for Norfolk and marks Virginia’s fourth casino, joining those operating in Bristol, Portsmouth, and Danville.

Ron Bailey, vice president and general manager of Norfolk Casino, said: “There are a lot of people who’ve never even set foot into a casino before. It’s about creating a casino experience for them that’s going to make them want to come back and enjoy their time when they’re gaming.”
