Key Moments:
- Betiton and MagicRed, two Aristocrat Interactive-powered online casinos, have exited Ontario’s iGaming market
- Ontario’s roster of licensed operators has dropped from 50 to 48 as sites from Betiton, MagicRed, and Wildz Group departed
- At least three new brands, including absolutebet and Bet Nova, are preparing to enter the Ontario iGaming space
Recent Exits Reshape Competitive Landscape
Betiton and MagicRed, both operating under the white-label platform from Aristocrat Interactive, have exited Ontario’s iGaming market. As a result, these sites have stopped accepting wagers from players in the province, and iGaming Ontario (iGO) has removed them from its active operators list. A spokesperson confirmed that both brands have ceased their Ontario operations.
Betiton made its Ontario debut in December 2024, quickly following MagicRed’s own launch. Both brands were operated by AG Communications Ltd., which functions as Aspire Global. Powering numerous brands such as Anaxi, Aspire Global, Bto Bet, NeoGames, and Pariplay, Aristocrat Interactive’s white-label solutions are designed to assist casino and sportsbook operators in regulated jurisdictions.
When Betiton launched, Jonathan Chilton, then head of Aristocrat Interactive’s white-label division, emphasized Betiton as a testament to their dedication to supporting clients in regulated environments like Ontario. Despite inquiries from Canadian Gaming Business, both Aristocrat and Betiton declined to comment on their recent withdrawal from the market.
Aristocrat Maintains Presence Across Canada
While Betiton and MagicRed have exited, Aristocrat retains a foothold in Canada. Pariplay and NeoGames, both operating under the Aristocrat umbrella, continue to deliver digital gaming content to various provincial lotteries. NeoPollard Interactive – a collaboration between Pollard Banknote and NeoGames – provides lottery solutions nationwide. In partnership with Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) during 2023, Aristocrat expanded its offerings to the Play Alberta platform. NeoGames has also formed an alliance with the Atlantic Lottery Corporation, expanding Aristocrat’s reach to Canada’s eastern provinces.
Within Ontario, regulatory allowances enable each licensed entity to manage up to four sub-brand gaming sites under one Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) license, giving Aristocrat potential opportunities to return or launch new brands in the market in the future.
Market Contraction and New Entrants
Ontario’s iGaming market has narrowed following recent departures. The number of licensed operators stands at 48, with 82 distinct gaming sites now active – down from 50 operators and 88 sites the previous week. This contraction primarily followed the withdrawal of Betiton, MagicRed, and all four sites from Wildz Group (formerly Rootz), who exited in October.
| Timeframe | Operators | Sites |
|---|---|---|
| Last week | 50 | 88 |
| Current | 48 | 82 |
iGO addressed these changes, stating:
“Operators make their own business calls in Ontario’s competitive market. Over 50 have joined, a few have left. That’s normal as the market evolves. This churn actually helps consumers by sparking innovation, boosting service, and keeping things focused on the customer.”
Despite recent exits, at least three new platforms plan to launch soon. High Roller Technologies is preparing to introduce absolutebet, and Goldrush Gaming is readying Bet Nova. Absolutebet has already received its AGCO license, while High Roller Technologies awaits approval to launch the new casino.
Looking Ahead
The departure of Betiton, MagicRed, and Wildz marks a period of transition for Ontario’s iGaming sector. As the market approaches its fourth anniversary next spring, new entrants are poised to bring further changes and competition to the evolving landscape.
