National Impact and Program Reach

Ygam, established in 2014, has achieved a significant milestone by reaching an estimated five million young people across the United Kingdom through its range of prevention initiatives. These efforts include the delivery of award-winning training and resources addressing gaming and gambling harms to more than 32,000 delegates.

Beyond schools and colleges, Ygam’s influence extends to the health and social care sectors. The organization has trained over 5,500 professionals, such as those in hospitals, health boards, GP surgeries, and community nursing environments. These initiatives have directly supported the digital safeguarding of nearly half a million children and young people who access health services.

Support for Parents, Carers, and Communities

In response to increasing concerns from parents and carers regarding online gaming and gambling, Ygam has emerged as a key advisory source for families. The charity has provided workshops to more than 4,500 parents and carers, offering essential advice on these prevalent issues.

Operating nationally, Ygam maintains a presence in every region of England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, including 64 out of 76 cities across the UK.

Resource Utilization and Lasting Results

The organization has experienced a considerable rise in the use of its resources, with nearly 100,000 downloads reported. At least half of educators have adopted these materials in their teaching, enhancing the sustainability of Ygam’s reach.

Continuing the Mission

Helen Martin, Interim CEO of Ygam, said: “This milestone is more than just a number – it’s a reflection of the positive impact we’re making in every corner of the UK. We’re incredibly proud of the growing community that shares our passion for safeguarding children’s wellbeing in an increasingly complex digital world, where gaming and gambling are more accessible than ever. From schools to sports clubs, parents to practitioners, and colleges to community centres, we’re raising awareness through the powerful tool of education. As we mark this extraordinary achievement, the demand for our resources has never been greater. We remain committed to expanding our reach and deepening our impact, ensuring that every child has the knowledge and confidence to navigate the risks of gaming and gambling harms.”

The organization indicates that its work is far from complete and encourages further support to continue expanding its reach to the next five million young people.
