Tom Hall Takes Down 888Live Poker Festival London £1,100 Main Event

The 888Live Poker Festival London has just seen the end of his third, and last day. The epic heads-up battle between Tom Hall and Ning Lu that was finally through at 4:30 AM put the end of a twelve and a half-hour final day full of action.

The Main Event was the last, and most-expected tournament of this year’s edition of the 12-day 888Live Poker Festival London, which kicked off at the Aspers Casino Westfield. It offered three starting flights, and three game days of memorable action and great interest of poker lovers who have turned it to one of the most successful tournament series.

As Casino Guardian already reported, the Main Event offered a buy-in of £1,100 as well as a £400,000 guaranteed prize pool which was boosted to a total of £427,730 by the 427 entries over the three starting days.

Eventually, after a final day lasting more than 12 hours, Tom Hall was the player who emerged victorious and laid hands on the first-place prize after a two-way deal. The British poker player, took down the event, snatching the victory under Ning Lu’s nose after a tough heads-up up battle.

Before being crowned as a winner of the 888Live Poker Festival London Main Event, Tom Hall’s total live earnings amounted to $1,744,455. The player’s biggest life cash so far amounts to $205,204 which he won in December 206 by ranking first in the EPT-13-EUREKA-6-Prague €2,200 NLHE Main Event.

Only 17 players returned at the beginning of the Main Event’s Final Day, to try and win the first-place cash prize and the tournament’s Main Event title. Quickly after that, the number of the remaining players was brought to 11, with eight of them being eliminated. Soon after that, two more players busted out to form the final table of the Main Event, consisting of nine players.

At the time when the final table of the event was formed, it was Tom Hall who got the chip lead, with a massive stack of 4,060,000 in chips. Pol Canals Hernandez followed, with a chip stack of 1,799,000, while Paul Scipioni breathed down his neck, with 1,769,000 in chips.

Action time started, with the players being quickly eliminated until only the three of them remained around the final table. The tension over the three-handed play made Hall cautious, with Ning Lu and Pol Canals Hernandez also taking the lead at some point of the game.

It was Hernandez who got eliminated first of the trio, leaving Hall and Lu face each other in a fierce heads-up battle for the 888Live Poker Festival London Main Event’s title. The two of them decided to discuss and agreed on a two-way deal at a time when Ning Lu had approximately a 2:1 chip lead over his opponent. Under the deal, Lu was to be granted a £72,142 portion of the prize pool, while Hall was to get a total of £70,000. The two players left an additional £8,888 money portion, as well as the event’s trophy to play for.

The heads-up play lasted for more than three hours, with Tom Hall finally emerging victorious, taking down the event and being crowned as a champion.

Final Table Ranking

With Tom Hall conquering the 888Live Poker Festival London Main Event, taking home a monetary prize pool portion of £78,888 after a two-way deal, it was his last standing opponent – Ning Lu who occupied the runner-up position, being granted with a cash portion of £72,142 under the heads-up deal with Hall.

Pol Canals Hernandez got third, taking a £39,945 portion of the guaranteed prize pool.

The fourth place in the ranking was occupied by Paul Scipioni, who was followed by Daniel Stanway. Charles Akadiri got sixth, while the seventh position was taken by Paul Nugent. Shao Zhen got eighth, and Pascal Pflock remained ninth, laying hands on a monetary prize of £8,875.
