David Gee Tops Remaining Player Field after 2018 GUKPT Blackpool £1,100 Main Event Day 1A

Day 1A of the 2018 Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) Blackpool Main Event has been brought to an end, with David Gee topping the competitors as a chip leader.

As Casino Guardian has previously reported, Leg 8 of the GUKPT started on November 4th at the Grosvenor G Casino Blackpool, with a variety of live poker tournaments included in its schedule. Of course, the £1,110 Main Event has been the most-expected event, with a guaranteed prize pool of £200,000 and a starting stack of 20,000.

With late registration open for the first six levels of play, it was a good first day of the Main Event, as the first flight gathered a total of 108 entries, which is 16 up in comparison to 2017 numbers. It remains to be seen whether the overall player pool will be larger than the one gathered last year when Daniel Corbett emerged victorious topping a total of 314 players for the first-place prize of £87,280.

The first flight of 2018 GUKPT Blackpool £1,100 Main Event was complete after ten levels of play. As mentioned above, the English poker player David Gee emerged as the chip leader among the 34 players who have survived the day. Gee now leads the pack, with a chip stack of 162,000, followed by Mitchell Johnson with 136,700. Andrew Garland is also close enough, with 130,200 in chips after Main Event Day 1A.

Will Gee be able to beat the competition and take down the Main Event to add more cash to his total live earnings of $70,293, or will somebody else emerge victorious at the end of the Final Day of the event? This is still to be seen in the upcoming days.

Now, Blackpool which is a well-known poker tournament destination is set to host Day 1B, which is scheduled to start today, at 1:00 PM sharp, with late registrations having been open until 8:30 PM.

The Main Event of the GUKPT Blackpool has always been a memorable poker event for all poker lovers in the UK. The thing is that the Main Event in Blackpool has always been the flagship tournament of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour, with the leg being extremely popular with both professional and recreational poker players. A number of famous poker pros have already emerged as winners in the Main Event, including Jonny Gray, Priyan de Mel, Tom Middleton and Simon Deadman.

Last year, the iconic Grosvenor G Casino Blackpool welcomed 314 entrants for the GUKPT Main Event, with the UK poker pro Daniel Corbett eventually emerging victorious. This year, the £1,100 buy-in Main Event is also promising, with the final number of entries soon to be revealed.
