Richard Lawlor Emerges Victorious from €1,100 Buy-in WPT National Ireland Main Event

Richard Lawlor emerged victorious from the €1,100 Buy-in Main Event of the World Poker Tour (WPT) National Ireland, winning the competition’s trophy as well as the top prize of €65,000. The Main Event took place at Killarney, Ireland over the weekend and gathered a great number of players and spectators from the UK and Ireland.

The player became the latest champion in the tournament, after he managed to outlast 259 other players in order to reach the top of the field of 260 participants and took home the shiny trophy and the first-place prize.

The Main Event that was accessible through a buy-in of €1,100 attracted a large number of players residing in the UK and Ireland. Some popular names were also present at the tournament, such as Michael Fletcher, Andy Black and Louis Salter, Ian Simpson, Bob Tait and Cathal Shine.

The Day 3 of the competition started with 14 players left in an attemt to win the tournament’s title, including two Ambassadors of partypoker – Natalia Breviglieri and Tony Dunst. Unfortunately for them, Dunst went bust on the 14th position, and Breviglieri joined him on the rail not long after that.

Other players who did not make it to the final table and fell out of the competition right before that were Peter Murphy, Gatis Cibulis and Daniel Tighe. With all of them hitting the rail, the nine players who formed the final table of the Main Event, were identified.

With Raymond Masters being eliminated and occupying the third place, Richard Lawlord faced his last standing opponent in heads-up battle for the tournament’s title. At this time, he held a massive chip lead of 5,600,000 to 2,140,000 over Alan Kelleher, but it still took him the epic 56 hands to eliminate him and put him on the runner-up position.

Alan Kelleher ranked as a runner-up in the WPT National Ireland Main Event, taking home a consolation prize of €42,500. The third position was occupied by Raymond Masters, who got himself a prize estimated to €27,500.

Dara O’Kearney took the fourth place, while David Masters ranked fifth. The six position was occupied by Laurence Ryan, followed by Eric Doyle, who got seventh. The eight and ninth positions were occupied by Tadhg Ryan and Jason Tompkins, respectively.
