Hakim Zoufri Emerges Victorious from 2016 MCOP Main Event

Hakim Zoufri emerged victorious from the Main Event of the 2016 edition of Master Classics of Poker (MCOP) that took place in Amsterdam. The player managed to win the Silver Edition of the tournament’s Main Event and took home a €275,608 cash portion of the guaranteed prize pool. The winner also got a giant Heineken mug and of course, a unique MCOP plate.

He became the latest player to join the impressive list of the tournament’s winners, including some of the most popular contemporary poker players such as Noah Boeker, Ruben Visser, Ole Schemion, Jussi Nevanlinna, Robert Mizrachi, etc.

The Dutch player topped a players field consisting of a total of 356 entries to climb as high as the top of the table and emerge victorious from the competition. What is interesting, is the fact that this year, the Main Event of the Master Classics of Poker’s Silver Edition needed an additional day of play.

So, the last two standing opponents were forced to return for the final, heads-up clash for the winner’s title and the prize of €275,608. German player Fabio Sperling had in fact held the chip lead for most of the final table on the second to last day of the competition, and managed to maintain his chip lead. However, the additional day saw Hakim Zoufri taking the everything in his hands, so that it took him less than an hour to beat Sperling.

With Hakim Zoufri occupying the winner’s position in the ranking, the German player Fabio Sperling remained as a runner-up, taking a consolation prize of €184,820. The third place was occupied by Ivan Arbatsky from Kazachstan. The Finnish player Juha Helppi remained fourth, with a cash portion of the guaranteed prize pool estimated to €92,057.

Stefan Fabian from Romania took the fifth place in the 2016 Master Classics of Poker Main Event, followed by another Finnish – Samuli Sipila. The seventh and eighth positions in the ranking were taken by two players from the Netherlands – Michiel Brosky and Rashed Zade, respectively. The UK player Charlie Carrel occupied the last, ninth position in the ranking, scooping a cash prize estimated to €27,349.
