Catalin Pop Emerges Victorious from 888Live Festival’s €888 Main Event

The 888Live Festival, which was hosted by the Kings Casino in Rozvadov, Czech Republic, has just ended, with Catalin Pop emerging victorious from the Festival’s Main Event.

The player, who ranked first in the 888Live Rozvadov Main Event after outlasting a massive number of competitors, took home a prize of €80,000. The event has managed to gather a players field consisting of 531 entries, with a number of professional players taking part in the competition, including at the final table.

Calatin Pop from Romania, who started the final day fourth in chips faced some of the best professional poker players. He managed to beat a number of opponents by using some clever and timely bluffs and strategic play.

After the final table was formed, the atmosphere heated up and players played on fast pace until Pavel Berka from the Czech Republic became the first one to leave.

Then, the players got eliminated one by one until there were only two of them left around the table. The German Bernd Schonwalder, who qualified for the Main Event online and who started the final day last in chips, faced the Romanian in an epic heads-up battle, which ended with a big win for Catalin Pop.

This is a good start for Pop, who first entered the €225 Opening Day Event at the 888Live King’s Festival at the Rozvadov casino on January 26th and ranked on the 72nd position. The first position ranking of Pop at the Main Event of the Festival also brought him the biggest cash in his career so far.

With Catalin Pop occupying the first position in the ranking with a prize of €80,000, the runner-up position was left for Bern Schonwalder from Germany, who was granted with a consolation prize of €50,023 for his efforts. UK player Niall Farrell remained third, taking home a €36,113 cash portion of the guaranteed prize pool.

Another British player – Ludovic Geilich – occupied the fourth place for a prize of €29,184, followed by the Polish Lukasz Tomecki. Juan Carlos Vecino from Spain was sixth, followed by the Russian Alexander Dmitrienko. The eight position at the final table’s ranking was taken by Pavel Berka, a local player, who got a €9,619 cash portion from the guaranteed prize pool.
